Library Renovation F.A.Qs

Why is it so noisy?

Moving and construction crews are actively working within the library. You may experience some disruption. We apologize for the inconvenience.

How long will it be like this/When will the new spaces become available?

We are unsure of a definite timeline for construction. Spaces will be made publicly available as they are completed.

Can I still reserve a study room?

Study rooms are no longer available. New study rooms will be made available as construction allows.  Please visit our reserve a room page for more information.

Where are the computers?

Computers are available on the 2nd floor of the TAC building. There are two public use computers available for use within the library. Printing is still available both wirelessly and from library computers.

Where are the tables and study carrels?

Seating has been moved into the ERC Atrium. Additional seating and some of the study carrels have been moved up to the second floor of the TAC building.

Can I still print/scan/copy?

Yes, there are still two public use black & white printers available for use in the library. Wireless printing is also available.

Where are all of the books?

The library is retaining the print collection. The general book collection is located in new compact shelving that is currently unavailable to the public. All library items are available for check-out and may be retrieved by request.

Floor plans for the newly renovated Educational Resource Center (ERC)

Renovation Updates:

Email from Facilities & Services Department 3/2/2018:

"Beginning on Monday, March 5, work will commence on the next phases of construction of the Innovation Hub in the Educational Resources Center (ERC)!

Temporary walls will be erected on both the first and second floors on the north side (Library side) of the building interior.  On the outside, fencing will block off the loading dock and surrounding area per the red oval below.  This phase of construction may last through December 2018.  Please be mindful of signage and barricades and use caution when in these areas.

Although there will be noise and disruption during this phase of the project, we will be thoughtful during Dead Week and Finals Week.

This phase of construction will focus on new:

  • Innovation/Collaboration space
  • Video-conferencing rooms
  • Group study areas
  • Compact shelving for the Library’s book collection

While the new spaces with new purposes is being created, the Library and it’s function will remain available.

Please contact Ana Thomas, athomas@clarkson.edu or Cory Storie, cstorie@clarkson.edu if you have any questions during this project.  You can also contact Facilities & Services main office at 315.268.4000 if you have an immediate need with regard to our activities in and around the building."
