The New York Times: Registration Instructions

The New York Times and The New York Times in Education

Clarkson now has digital access to both The New York Times and The New York Times in Education!

To access either of Clarkson University's subscriptions please follow the registration instructions below (you will need to register for both websites separately) 

**You must use your Clarkson University email address**  

After you have registered for an account you can access content by navigating directly to: 

nytimes.com or nytimesineducation.com

To reactive an existing faculty or staff account: 

You will receive 364 days of digital access from the time of registration. When your registration expires you will repeat the registration process using the "Already have an account? Log in here" link from Step 3 and log in with your existing NYT username and password

The New York Times is an internationally recognized daily newspaper. Your account will allow you to access content dating back to 1851 with a *limit of access to five articles per day*. Digital access includes all content found in the print edition EXCEPT the daily crossword puzzle. You will have full access to content on mobile devices through a browser or by downloading the free The New York Times mobile app. 

Additionally you have access to The New York Times:

  • Cooking app (which contains 17,000 recipes)
  • Virtual Reality app
  • Podcasts 
  • Video content
  • Newsletters

Follow these instructions to register for your New York Times account: 

**You must use your Clarkson University email address**  

Step 1: Navigate to nytimesineducation.com/access-nyt/ 

Step 2: Search and select "Clarkson University - Potsdam, NY"

You will be redirected to a registration page:



Step 3: Click "Create Account" and complete the registration fields

Step 4: You will receive a confirmation email

Step 5: You may now sign in to nytimes.com with your new username and password

Note: If you previously registered your Clarkson University email address on The NYT's website, you can click the "Already have an account? Log in here" link from Step 3 and log in with your existing NYT username and password

Students Please enter your year of graduation during registration

The New York Times in Education allows instructors and educators to search the news by specific areas of interest for easier use of content in the classroom. Faculty, staff, and students are all welcome to create accounts.  

This website ties existing New York Times content to: 

  • Discipline-specific areas of study
  • Classroom discussion prompts
  • Suggested learning outcomes
  • General Instructional Strategies to promote student achievement
  • Co-Curricular Activities, including events, discussions, and contests

Follow these instructions to register for your New York Times in Education account: 

**You must use your Clarkson University email address**  

Step 1: Navigate to nytimesineducation.com/register/ 

Step 2: Complete the registration form and click "Sign Up"

Step 3: You may now log in to nytimesineducation.com with your username and password
